To be, or not to be on the first page of SERP (Search Engine Result Page); that is the question. Competition is high, algorithms change constantly, some go for tricksters with big hopes, and some ignore all this confusion and go without it (if only they can).
Search engines are necessary, we all need them and we do love them. If this is the case, we have to get on well with them to be winner of the game. Actually, there will not be a winner at the end as it is a continuous process but still fun, depending on your perception of course.
SEO is considered a one of the un-paid digital marketing methods as you pay nothing to search engines. However as not everyone of us is willing to dive into the deep SEO labyrinthine, other solutions of hiring a consultant or employing an expert to see immediate results in a couple of months cost you a few grand. So, I am aiming to make something cool here by summarising some basic SEO techniques for non experts, excluding the technical parts which might be boring.
SEO, Search Engine Optimisation is basically comprises of 5 (+1) components:
3. Page Optimisation
(+1) -and most importantly after all- Time.
Importance of considering keywords
- To gain better ranking on SERPs: Search engine spiders prioritize keyword optimized content by bringing higher visibility on organic researches
- Higher ranking via keyword optimization is one of the main ways to reach potential customers online
- Using less competitive, long tail keywords within the web content enables to reach to its target audience as those keywords are potentially typed by prospective customers with specific need for the service
- Better conversion rates by engaging with visitors who deliberately choose to land on the website
But how and where we can find these keywords and how can we analyze them?
To find popular keyword combinations with less competition, main keyword search tools can be listed as Google Adwords, Google Insight, Bing, Word Tracker, Keywordspy, Keyword Discovery from Trellian and Wordze. Keyword search tools are the only places to analyze the level of competition on keywords. Low competitive keywords with highest searches are the ones you want to use. You can also find new customer trends and what your customers are looking for to make your website more visible to them accordingly.
Having unique and valuable information on your website is very important for search engines, do not ever try to copy and paste your content from someone else because Search Engines will figure it out (Google Panda)! The best way of providing valuable content is providing useful information, tips or updates about your services to your customers.
